NATURE AND MAN

1. Nature is what we are part of. We are connected with it, not the lord of it. We are never gods.

2. Nature is what sustains us life; kill it, we all should die.

3. Nature has its order as God designs it. We are one with nature, we are part of it, we are connected with it, we are dependent with it. We are being thrown into the world to be a part of this (grand) design. So fulfill it! We do not know the consequences once we break this divine design.

3. Man may have power to change the course of the river, but he will have no power over its consequences. We are not gods who are above and can control the nature, we are one with nature, we are living with it. We are not detached from nature, we are connected.

4. What happens to nature deeply affects us. That is how we are connected with it. Cut the tress, we won't have foods. Poison the water, we have no water to drink. Poison the river, animals that we eat shall die. Poison the land, we'll have no fruits to eat. So tell me? Are we still above this nature?

5. Nature has its laws, laws that we should discern. Science depends on these laws; technologies are made from understanding its laws. Thus, nature is still powerful over the crafts of man, as the latter is created from the former. Man still has to make treatise with it so he could innovate without destroying his life.

6. For the humanity who thinks they're gods because of that so-called technology that they can do the impossible, think of this: Before we create technology, why should we have to undergo studies and researches? Can we create technology completely from our ideas, or is there something we should make treatise with?

7. Fool are we who think we are gods, because of our crafts. Technologies, before it is created, shall have to understand and abide the laws of nature designed by the true God. Otherwise, destruction shall come for those who do not discern.

8. Therefore, the aforementioned truths makes me convinced: we are NEVER above nature, we are part of it. Only the true God has the power to lord over the course of nature.

MORALITY II

1. What is morality?

Morality is not a set of restrictive codes that is meant to use as a social control, or a set of selective standards that would breach our own autonomy, freedom and individuality as a person. Morality is a form of a SOCIAL CONTRACT as to how to respect each other who equally possess the same dignity and freedom as a human being. It is a UNIVERSAL TREATY which appeases our conflicting ideas and desires so that everyone would not undergo suffering and exploitation. It is a COMMUNAL CONSENSUS on how to leave in peace, order and harmony as one society.

2. Why should we all be MORAL?

We all have our different desires and wills of our own. However, one's own will differs from the other; one's own desire differs from the other, that may lead to a further conflict. HUMAN COMMUNITY IS CHAOTIC IF IT IS LEFT AS IT IS, but we all desire to live in harmony peace and free of pain. For that reasons, societies, cultures, and religions constructed this kind of consensus so that we can live our lives without compromising the right of others.

We may all desire to live our lives according to our own dispositions, but unfortunately, WE ARE NOT LIVING ALONE. You are living with other people in the same space, and those people also have their own right, dignity, freedom and autonomy as you are. A thing that you should ave to compromise with. Like you, they also want freedom an not be controlled by others; like you, they also have the same dignity; like you, they also have their own sentient and rational capacity; like you, they also detest to undergo suffering, pain and exploitation, and like you, they also want to live in peace. This is the reason why RECIPROCITY has been a universal more, i.e. Do unto others what you want others do unto you, or do not do unto others what you don't want others do unto you. We all have the same goal, the same dignity, the same capacity, that is why we RESPECT is an imperative.

  11. Our heads are like an empty vessel; pour something into it and it shall be filled.
  12. Open your mind for new learning, open your heart for instruction. If someone reprimands you, accept it with humility and joy; if someone scolds you, do not fight for your pride and sense of shame. For in correction, we learn more.
  13. If the door is closed no one is welcome. If your mind is closed, no wisdom is welcome.
  14. Be humble to accept your ignorance, and openness of mind shall follow.
  15. True wisdom comes from humility; for humility opens our hearts, openness welcomes learning, and learning is where we get wisdom.

  19. Wise men seeks answers and understanding, foolish is he who ignores questions.
  20. Wise men loves teachings and instructions, foolish is he who rebukes it.
  21. Love is an ACTION; a rational choice. Not an intuitive infatuation.
  22. Before you speak, THINK. Twice, thrice, or a hundred times. That is why wise men speak less.
  23. Obedience: is not a passive acquiescence, but an active will to do his task with faith.
  24. Obedience does not mean being an subservient slave to his master, but being one in spirit with his collaborator.
  25. Obedience and faith is often intertwined; that however hard the task may be, one must be steadfast in believing its purpose.
  26. How you see the outside world depends on how you see the world inside your head.
  27. Farewells are always sad, but that's the reality of life. People come and go, whether intentionally or not. Fate designs it, perhaps for a purpose.

  29. Sun is never absent in the storm; it is just behind the clouds.
  30. Polity and etiquette are not forms of social repression, they are just ways to show respect and give dignity to others.

Meditations I

1.      Free yourself from fleshly desires.
Empty yourself with the desires of worldly things.
Wealth, fame, beauty… they are perishable, and worse, can be destructible to your soul by being anxious of them.
Never attach yourself too much of these things, they are not a part of your body. Even though it seems to make you feel happy and fulfilled, they do bring you pain through anxiety. Anxiety that would destroy your inner peace.
As long as possible, free yourself from over-wanting those things and be humble enough to be one with neighbors.

2.      Why should we always consider others? Because it is a reality that we are not living alone in this world and we have others to be compromised with.

3.      Keep your mind tranquil, keep your soul be still whatever it may cost.

4.      Material desires can give you pain; worldly pleasures destroy you souls. Indulging yourself from it can ruin your inner tranquility. Material things are not part of you, it is delusional to think that they are. Think of it, YOU CAN NEVER BRING THEM TO GRAVE!

5.      Material things are has no value in themselves; it is just our impressions that gives them value.

6.      Anxiety and ambition are not the key to self-fulfillment. For what? For aspiring material wealth? Then, should we have to compromise your inner peace to be anxious of wealth? Sorry but for me, inner tranquility is important than money. It is still better to live in simplicity with peace than in luxury with so much anxiety.

7.      Only in death shall we know: THERE IS NOTHING THAT WE HAVE. Even our beautiful bodies decompose, our intelligent brains rot, our talents would never be used; and our wealth; hilariously but you have to surrender everything to your sons.

8.      I saw my friend before, he was vain, he was narcissistic, and he is anxious to gain power and acceptance. But when it turn out that he was despised by everyone, he must had been anxious as all of his desires were deprived from him. How miserable he had been. Only then did I think, if he had just been humble enough not to be anxious of them, he would never be in pain when this time comes. In that time I realized: I should keep myself lowly and not be in vain, for when the time comes that I would be despised, I would never be in that great pain.

9.      Worldly pleasures, though it may seem to give happiness and fulfillment, can give you pain. Anxiety is its consequence. We must have to deny ourselves from wanting those desires, for they destroy our inner peace and would push us away from doing things according to the ways ordained by God. That is why I advocate self-denial.

10.  (Over) indulgence to desires can entice ones ego to arise. Thus, we must deny ourselves from pleasures that we may be free from the yoke of our ego that would destroy our inner tranquility.

11.  Never destroy your inner peace, for one’s state of mind affects his own thoughts, one’s own thoughts affects his own actions, his own actions affects others’ thoughts and action that, I fear, could possibly affect how they deal other people too.

12.  I do not mean that we should deprive ourselves in order to deny our pleasures. It is not basically bad to possess enough things to have secure and decent life. It is also a part of our nature to have, but I think luxury is excessive. Luxury can also entice us to desire, that is why it can be risky if not given enough prudence and maturity. What I also mean here is MODERATION.

13.  Perfection of virtue is through the formula of MODERATION.

14.  It is not condemnable if a man seeks to improve his economic situation. It is usual for him to seek for security for his life: that he may have enough food to feed his hunger, that he may have safe and comfortable home to visit, and that he may have insured his twilight years. It is actually good for us to be like ants who embarks their foods to prepare for any possible rain. But sometimes, we tend to go beyond that boundary. We tend to forget the basic reason why we are doing all of them, and thus we became anxious for something that is no need to be anxious.

15.  Money is no evil; one's intention is...

16.  Do not be anxious of gaining wealth, it is not bad to improve your economic situations but in the extent that we would be anxious for it that we tend to be egotistical. If God gives you wealth, accept it. Maybe you are entitled for a mission through it.

17.  Nothing is bad to be rich as long as no one is hungry because of you.

18.  I do not also mean to advocate passivity. We should all be active upon seeking improvement to our own self. And if God gives you sign to where would you go, take an active step in fulfilling it.

19.  Even if you do no bad, but if you do nothing (good), you also sin. Evil is merely and purely the absence of good.

20.  Love is the root of all virtue and peace is its fruit.

21.  What is happening in the world around you is actually out of your control. The world has its ways as ordained by the Reason of God. In fact, what you are in full control of is YOUR VERY OWN SELF--your thoughts, your words, your actions, and your will. If the world's ways is gladly with you, it is only a chance, a coincidence perhaps. But if the world goes apart from your ways, be not angry nor be anxious; it would be pointless if you do it and you may lose your inner peace. Rather, just trust God and ask Him how you could drive that fate He destined you (do not ask Him why).

22.  You have your ways…
The world has his ways too…
Sometimes, your ways would go as one, a good chance indeed.
Yet in times that your ways would conflict, who do you think is the bigger?
Your ways are the product of your reason,
World’s ways is governed be the reason of the Supreme God, in which you are a dust.
That is why not all your will is destined not to be accomplished, or there are other events that would happen in your life even if you don’t want it.
If yours and the world’s ways collide, fate (world’s ways) is still more powerful to you.
If that comes, never be angry to the world and just trust God lest you’d cause yourself a stress.

23.  In keeping your mind peaceful, let go of what you cannot control and submit to the ways of the world as ordained by God. Never be anxious nor be angry if the world goes not with you. But if you see that the ways is within your control (means you can do something with it), do what you ought to do lest you would sin.

24.  A friend of mine, formerly a rival, quoted us these words: “Never ask God why, ask God how.” Never question God’s ways; if something happened that is out of what you wish, just ask Him His guidance instead.

25.  Consider suffering as a friend not a foe. Suffering is a friend for it helps you grow. As the saying says: “No pain, no gain.” How would you know strength if you don’t know pain? How would you know patience if you don’t hear arrogance? How would you know courage if you don’t know fear? How you would know chastity if you don’t know urge? How would you know faith if you don’t know uncertainty? And how would you know goodness if you don’t know evil? Suffering can be your teacher, your mentor to virtue.

26.  A shallow river flows with sound and vigorous current, while a deep river is quiet and apparently still that you would not notice that it is quietly flowing.

27.  He who opens his mouth shuts his mind; he who opens his mind shuts his mouth. Wise men do not easily speak for they think first before they speak. Foolish men speak rapaciously that they first use their mouth before their heads. Foolish men also speak voraciously to make them look wise and attentive; but if wise men listen to them, they would just shake their heads. Don’t get it wrong, every sacred text including our bible, every philosophers’ work, and every scientific studies support this dictum.

28.  The more often you speak, the more senseless your words would be. But if you think first, not just an immediate thinking, but a deliberate thinking, an analytical thinking, before you speak, your listeners would lend you their ears with their hearts.

29.  What is GENTLENESS all about?
It is all about “keeping on guard”.
Guarding your thoughts so that you would not make hasty judgements,
Guarding your words so that you would never inflict one’s heart, and
Guarding your actions so that you would not harm others.

30. If the truth is defined as “the one that exists”, then we must listen to it as it is the existing path. Any other ways are just delusions.

MORALITY: Ego vs. Virtue

1.      Why should we all be moral?
It is so that all of us who dwell in one world may live in harmony, peace and soundness. A neighborhood where no one suffers because no one neglects another.

2.      Don’t think morality as “doing whatever you want so long as you cannot harm nor hurt others”. No, include yourself not to be destroyed also.

3.      Morality is never to be a “selective codes of standards”, but a social contract in how each other is to be treated.

4.      Don’t say that you don’t want to follow the antiquated mores of our grandfathers, their moral values are still relevant to harmonious life. Modern liberation has some risks that you may be neglecting.

5.      You are free, yes, you are. But total adherence to the liberation of today without thinking is a form of self-slavery.

6.      Not all the mores of our grandparents are morally relevant so as not all the mores of today’s liberation are morally harmonious. Be careful, sinfulness leads your life to destruction (not necessarily in the afterlife). Just keep on thinking and be critical to the trends of times.

7.      EGO: it is the driving force that drives man apart from VIRTUE--ego’s mortal enemy. Thus, the core key to a virtuous life, other than love, is to forget your ego. To set yourself aside for the benefit of others. To learn to think of your neighbor over yourself as they are the majority and you are alone.

8.      The kernel/core cause of man’s sinfulness is ignorance and self-centeredness. Man’s mortal enemy is his own self. Thus, a key to be virtuous is to set oneself aside, and forget his ego.

9.      Ego is the taproot of man’s malevolence and sinfulness.

10.  Malevolence is a sin because it is like breaking a natural social contract that we are bound to, even before we were born.

11.  If everyone have just known to set their ego aside, especially whenever it is fit, what a peaceful world it may be.

12.  If every man is thinking for themselves, the world would be in chaos.

13.  Unity can be attained if each individuals how to set their individualities aside and submit to the spirit of the group.

14.  Money is not evil; one’s intention is the evil one.

15.  I may be writing for what I wish humanity should be. But each individual is still in-charge of their own destiny in the end.

Courage

1.      Who is a man of courage?
Is he the one who feels no fear? Is he courageous because he feels courage in himself rather than fear?
No, I tell you, not.
There must be no man who feels no fear. Fear is part of us.
But a courageous man is a man who feels fear but chooses to defy it. Must be for a nobler thing to do.
It can be that he chooses to defy his fear because he also has another FEAR… A fear of losing what is good, noble and upright.

2.      Courage doesn’t mean feeling no fear; it means defying one’s fear.

3.      Courage is a force that moves us to do what is virtuous, upright and just (despite of fear). Yet, it is not an emotional impulse that we may, perhaps, wish to think; it is a rational choice, a voluntary will that we make so that it would be emulated to our souls.

4.      Courage’s mortal enemy is fear. But remember that fear is a passion that can be defied by courage which is a reason.

5.      The virtue of courage does not mean a will to fight alone. We must also think, and sometimes, learn to retreat from the battle for us to think of a better strategy. Such is what gave the Mongols an advantage before. They don’t just fight and die for glory, they also know when to retreat to reinforce themselves, and advance whenever it fits already.

6.      Why do we fear? Because there is uncertainty. It is innate to us, and it is really who we are (let’s not frown for it). But a simple choice of defiance can move you to do whatever you ought to do, take risk, and discover something new. Fear is not completely bad, but too much indulgence with it can hinder you of something.

NATURE AND MAN

1. Nature is what we are part of. We are connected with it, not the lord of it. We are never gods. 2. Nature is what sustains us life; ...
